As international school partnerships offer a concrete opportunity for intercultural exchange and co-operation aces encourages partnership projects amongst schools in Central European countries.

Pupils and teachers of schools in the participating countries are invited to find partner schools and submit a partnership project proposal with their ideas for co-operation. All types of schools with pupils aged 12-17 years can take part.

Call for project proposals 2009
Participation and moral courage are two of the pillars on which our democratic society is based. Ideally, schools should not only be places where students talk about democracy, but where they actually experience the opportunities and challenges of active participation on various levels. In 1989, active citizenship led to the Fall of the Iron Curtain. In view of the 20th anniversary of this historical event, the overall theme of the 2009 project competition is: “Have your say! Young Europeans shape their future”

The deadline for submission of project proposals is 30 April 2009.

An international selection committee then evaluates and awards the best applications. The awarded projects are supported to carry out their cross-border partnership projects with grants (1.000 € per participating partner school) and additional support structures like international events and online tools.

Network events
In the course of the project implementation phase (September 2009 until March 2010) two international meetings with delegations from the winning projects provide additional support and great opportunities for further exchange and ongoing evaluation among the participants.
