GenERAtion Update: Seminar on “Absorbtion Capacity of Higher Education Institutions and Countries” in Austria and Hungary

The final event of the GenERAtion seminar series was held on 28-29 April in Sopron and Eisenstadt, jointly organised by the Hungarian and the Austrian Socrates National Agencies in co-operation with the Fachhochschulstudiengänge Burgenland. It focused on the challenge for Higher Education institutions and national agencies related to their absorption capacity and the quality of an increasing mobility. Issues concerning accommodation, intercultural & language preparation, administration of mobility at institutional and national level were discussed in the workshops. The participants agreed that there is indeed a need to invest in building new housing for students, to create new English-language programmes and to promote the European brand. European higher education institutes can take in more students, and Erasmus can be considered as a tool to spread information on the European education.

As a part of the project report, a booklet will be published in September about the main outcomes and recommendations of all of the six seminars of the GenERAtion project.
